I went to the U of A in Fayetteville after graduating Osceola High School. I fell in love with the Arkansas Razorbacks and still love them to this day. There's just something about the 'atmosphere' on the campus of the U of A that is electrifying, especially when you hear the Razorback "Hog Call". WoooPigsSoooie!
Eventually, I transferred to Arkansas State University at Jonesboro and majored in Radio-TV Broadcasting. ASU is one of the premier Universities in the nation for that degree. I minored in Social Work - which I later found was my true calling. After working a few radio jobs and secretary jobs, I went back and got my Masters degree in Social Work at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. It was a hard curriculum, requiring 60 degree hours and a year long internship. (Most masters programs are only 30 hours) After completing my degree in 1992, I went to work for the Department of Health in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UAMS. (The U of A Medical School/Hospital) I loved that job, helping families that had preemie babies - providing them resources, emotional support, and guidance. I am still in the same position, though it's been moved around through the years. I am currently a Licensed Certified Social Worker and Health Services Specialist in the health department in Conway and I LOVE MY JOB! I have almost 28 years with the State of Arkansas and I am looking forward to retiring in a few years.
